What to Expect When Buying Beef From Double Creek Farms

Buying beef directly from a local ranch is a different experience than picking up a package at the grocery store. At Double Creek Farms, we want the process to be simple, transparent, and personalized so you know exactly what you're bringing home to your family.

If you're purchasing a half or whole beef for the first time, here's what you can expect.

Join the Waitlist

Our beef is available throughout the year, with cattle typically processed every other month. Once we have processing dates scheduled, we begin contacting customers on our waitlist to see who is ready for beef.

Because our beef is raised in small batches, joining the waitlist is the best way to reserve your spot.

Reserve Your Beef

Once you're ready to move forward, we'll ask for a small deposit to reserve your half or whole beef.

At that time, you'll also have the opportunity to choose the approximate size of the calf you'd like. We'll walk you through the options and help you determine what best fits your family's needs.

We Keep You Updated

As your processing date gets closer, we'll stay in touch with final hanging weights, pricing, and important dates so you know exactly what to expect.

We believe good communication is just as important as raising quality beef, and we'll be there to answer questions along the way.

Customize Your Order

One of the biggest advantages of buying directly from Double Creek Farms is that your beef is processed exactly the way you want it.

You'll complete a cut sheet that allows you to choose your preferred steak thickness, roast sizes, ground beef packaging, and other processing options.

If this is your first time purchasing a half or whole beef, don't worry. Matthew is happy to walk customers through the cut sheet, explain each option, and offer recommendations based on how your family cooks and eats beef. Whether you know exactly what you want or need a little guidance, we'll help make the process easy.

Processed With Quality in Mind

Our beef is processed by IO Ranch Processing, a family-owned, USDA-inspected facility that shares our commitment to quality.

Every cut is vacuum sealed, clearly labeled, and frozen to lock in freshness. The processing is clean, professional, and handled with the same attention to detail that we expect from every part of the process.

What's Included?

One of the best parts about purchasing a half or whole beef is the variety.

Depending on your cut sheet selections, you'll fill your freezer with a wide range of cuts, including premium steaks, roasts, high-quality ground beef, and specialty cuts that are often difficult to find at a grocery store. If requested, organ meats such as liver, heart, tongue, and cheek meat are also available, along with ground fat for making tallow when available.

Buying in bulk gives you the opportunity to enjoy every part of the animal while stocking your freezer with beef for months to come.

Taste the Difference

One of the first things customers notice is the quality of the beef, especially the ground beef.

Unlike grocery store hamburger that often comes from multiple sources, our ground beef comes from cattle we have raised ourselves from start to finish. Customers frequently tell us they notice a cleaner flavor, better texture, and richer taste.

Many families tell us that once they've experienced farm-raised beef, it's hard to go back.

Raised With Care From Start to Finish

Every calf begins its life on pasture alongside its mother for six to eight months before weaning. After weaning, the cattle continue grazing on pasture for several more months before moving to a finishing lot for approximately 100 to 150 days.

We take pride in raising cattle the right way and never cutting corners. From the way they're cared for on the ranch to the way your beef is processed and packaged, every step is focused on delivering a product we're proud to feed our own family.

Ready to Reserve Your Beef?

If you're interested in purchasing a half or whole beef, we'd love to add you to our waitlist.

Whether you're buying local beef for the first time or you've been filling your freezer this way for years, we're happy to answer your questions and help you through the process.

At Double Creek Farms, we're proud to raise beef you can feel confident serving around your family's table.
